Q: Why can't I just buy a pair of clippers and go home and groom my dog?
A: Sure you could do that, although I would not recommend it because of the safety hazard that no experience creates. There are so many areas under the fur of a dog that are easily nicked or cut. Also, if you do not use the right approach while grooming your dog, he may become a real challenge to groom in the future.
If you accidentally nick his foot, then the next time you groom him he is more likely to misbehave when you pick up that foot. If you use the wrong type of shampoo for your dog, you may run into problems with his coat, skin, or both. There are so many reasons to have some kind of instruction before trying to groom your dog — mainly for safety reasons.
